Typically, older tattoo removal lasers require more sessions.
Most clinics still use lasers with older Q-switched technology, operating in nanoseconds. These systems rely on longer pulse durations and more heat diffusion.

Why PicoWay® Is Different
Candela PicoWay delivers energy in picoseconds: trillionths of a second. Roughly .3 trillionths of a second to be exact making it one of the fastest in its class. This creates a powerful photoacoustic effect that shatters ink into smaller particles than traditional nanosecond (billionths of a second) lasers.
Because the laser breaks pigment into much smaller particles, the body can clear it more efficiently over time. This will reduce the total number of sessions required and improve the response of more stubborn ink colours.
The precision and speed of our picosecond technology allows for targeted treatment with less heat delivered to surrounding tissue. From a clinical standpoint, less heat means less trauma and less healing with multiple wavelengths to address a range of ink colours and pigmentation types.
Our technology can also be safely used across a wide range of skin types, adjusted to suit each clients individual needs.
